Part of the Shorebirds Beach Cottages property, this cottage features two bedrooms/one bath, a king bed, a queen bed both with luxurious linens and comfy mattress, plus a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Explore the Key on our on-site bicycles or voyage out on a SUP or Kayak. A ten minute walk and you arrive at the gem of the Key, Stump Pass State Park with it's pristine, undeveloped beach and wildlife preserve. Relax in our tropical backyard oasis by one of our wood or gas burning fire pits. BBQ grills, laundry, outdoor showers, and everything you need for the beach is provided. Pack your bags and head to the Piping Plover nest.
This cottage is the front unit of a very quiet duplex shared by our other unit the Oystercatcher. Our property has a second building for a total of four units. Building two has the White Pelican and the Laughing Gull. Maximum capacity is six persons including children.
The property has been beautifully updated in 2020-2021 featuring a newly renovated kitchen, bathroom, new furnishings, and luxury details. Each cottage is two bedroom, one bath. A thoughtfully appointed kitchen, dining table, living room with queen-sized sleeper sofa, one king bedroom, and one queen bedroom are among the comforts offered. Savor your morning beverage or evening cocktail on your private screened-in lanai or enjoy our backyard tropical oasis featuring gas and wood burning fire pits. The unit offers other conveniences such as: contactless, private entry, microwave, range, Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator. Free Wi-Fi. A cable connected 55” Smart TV in the living room and 40” TV’s in each bedroom to view shows using your favorite streaming apps. Other shared amenities include an on-site laundry, bbq grill area, and kayaks for your use.
We provide beach carts, chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, everything you need to get the most out of your day at the beach, just a short 3 minute walk. Grab one of our turquoise bicycles (adult-sized) to explore the pristine, secluded beach of Stump Pass State Park, only 3/10ths of a mile away (a leisurely 10 minute walk), where the sunsets are fantastic. Paddle around Lemon Bay in one of our kayaks, tandem or single, or a Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) offered with your stay. Spend the day fishing or hiking the park’s trails or just soak in the sun on this undeveloped beach, known for bird and turtle nesting. For a real treat, keep an eye out for dolphins, manatees and other wildlife while you’re there! Conveniently close are our island restaurants, ready to satisfy your culinary cravings. Take our island shuttle so that you can dance the night away to live music at some of our neighborhood establishments. Manasota Key has conveniently located boat and jet ski rentals, and parasailing as well.
This is a non-smoking property. Smoking is not allow inside cottages, nor on porches or in any outdoor space on the property. Smokers must take a stroll off property at or beyond the sidewalk to smoke.

Cancellation Policy
Travelers who cancel at least 60 days prior to check-in will be refunded 100% of rental amount paid. If reservation is cancelled 30 days prior to arrival, 50% of the rental amount paid will be refunded. Cancellations within 30 days prior to check-in will not be refunded. Early departure does not warrant any type of refund.
Deposit Policy
For reservations of one week or more, if the reservation is 60 days or more before the rental commences, an initial payment of 50% of the total rental fee is due at booking. Sixty days prior, an additional 25% will be due, with a final payment due 30 days prior to check-in.
If a reservation is made less than 45 days prior to check-in or the reservation is less than a full week in duration, the full rental amount must be paid at the time of booking.
Any reservation made 10 or fewer days prior to rental commencement, must do so using a major credit card at time of booking.
No reservation may commence without full payment being cleared.

We had a great stay at the Piping Plover cottage. It was easy to find and get settled in. Incredibly clean and stocked with everything we needed to feel at home. It’s a fantastic location for walks to local restaurants, the playground and Stump Pass Beach. Everyone we encountered were so friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend a stay here!
Super impressed with Piping Plover. Such a cute cottage and loved all the amenities. They provided us with everything we needed for en epic beach weekend. Loved the bikes as well! Great hosts. Definitely recommend staying here! Also Conveniently located so close to the beach and my favorite, Stump Pass Park.

My only quirk was that there are lights outside of the windows ( on the outside of the unit ) that shine brightly at night, making it hard to fall asleep. The entire unit was cool but I felt that the bedroom was a little warmer, and the ac was turned down to 73.

We had an absolute blast here! The house is so beautiful and there is everything you could ever ask for. The location is amazing - you can easily walk to the beach within 10 minutes. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this place!

Stellar hosts, with exquisite tastes. We sincerely enjoyed our stay. The facility is very clean and comfortable, and exceptionally well appointed. The extra amenities (bikes,kayaks, common spaces, outdoor showers, etc) are really over the top.

This property is amazing! Best Airbnb we have used. We were so pleased to see that everything was exactly as described and even better than the photos. Beautifully decorated, high quality furnishing and fixtures, very clean dishes that all matched, all the items you would need to cook meals, high quality, comfortable bedding, granite countertops, plush bath towels, and a lovely screened in porch to have our morning coffee on. The couch and chairs were very cozy. The air conditioner was super. The ceiling fans in the bedroom were refreshing. We did not hear any noise from the neighboring guests at all and got great sleep. The gift basket with snacks and the beer and wine and coffee provided all were nice after a full day of traveling to Florida.
We took advantage of the great bikes for daily bike rides, the roads had a nice bike lane. We were able to easily ride to several scenic spots, and shops.
We saw lots of people using the free shuttle to get around to the night spots, which looked lively and fun.
We enjoyed trying our new things with the provided kayaks which could be pulled on the provided wheels and walked a short distance to the inlet side, and had dolphins swim right up to us. We are in our fifties and were able to use the 2 provided Stand Up Paddle boards after watching a little Youtube tutorial. Super fun! The location can't be beat, with the Manasota Key beach just a super short walk, we could watch gorgeous sunsets. We found 52 shark teeth. The provided beach cart with beach chairs and umbrella, and all the nice sand toys were appreciated and easy to use. My son and his dad had lots of fun riding the waves in the ocean on the provided boogie boards. The hosts also provide a medium size cooler on wheels with a handle to pull. They provided 6 high quality, large, matching beach towels. The little local beach is not a party-scene, which we greatly appreciated.
The outdoor shower was very high quality, as were the washers and dryers, and gas grills. We were delighted to see the cute, tiny lizards that made appearances outside on the patios.
This place is only 15 minutes from Venice Beach area which has a lot to offer too, especially some great restaurants.
This is a very safe and friendly area, with kind people on the sidewalks saying hello. I usually have a lot of anxiety, and was able to really relax here! The keyless door locks as super handy and easy for even kids to use.
The tap water had a pleasant smell and taste, and a Brita filtering pitcher is in the spotless refrigerator. The cottage itself, and the furnishings have no odors at all, which I am very sensitive to. Not one bug was seen, inside or outside. This place is spotlessly clean.
There are fun things to do nearby, like nature catamaran tours and parasailing.
The hosts were very responsive and helpful when I had a couple questions.
We saw lots of unique birds, several large turtles, and frequent dolphin sightings.
We hope to return someday and rent two or three of the adjacent cottages with other relatives. This would be a great place to hold family gatherings or reunions, with the large outdoor fire pits.
Highly recommend this airbnb in every way to everyone considering this area!
Perfect place to spend a vacation. Cozy. Clean. Decorated to give that ocean side feel. Bikes, kayaks, fire pits close to restaurants and beach. It has everything you need!
